●NEW YORK – Campaign contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac made to Barack Obama may backfire if the Democratic presidential hopeful wages an aggressive campaign to cast blame on rival John McCain and the Republicans in Congress for the mortgage-related losses that forced the U.S. Treasury to take over the quasi-governmental mortgage giants.

A review of Federal Election Commission records back to 1989 reveals Obama in his three complete years in the Senate is the second largest recipient of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae campaign contributions, behind only Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., the powerful chairman of the Senate banking committee. Dodd was first elected to the Senate in 1980.

According to OpenSecrets.com, from 1989 to 2008, Dodd received $165,400 in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac campaign contributions, including contributions from PACs and individuals, followed by Obama, who received $126,349 in such contributions since being elected to the Senate in 2004.

In contrast, McCain warned of the coming mortgage crisis as he pressed in 2005 for regulatory reform of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. "For years I have been concerned about the regulatory structure that governs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac – known as government-sponsored entities or GSEs – and the sheer magnitude of these companies and the role they play in the housing market," McCain said on the floor of the Senate in 2005, speaking in favor of the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005.

McCain pointed out Fannie Mae's regulator had stated the company's quarterly reports of profit growth over the past few years were "illusions deliberately and systematically created" by the company's senior management, which resulted in a $10.6 billion accounting scandal.

The bill passed the House but was never brought up for a vote in the Senate, largely because of Democratic opposition to change in the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac regulatory structure that remained in place until the Treasury takeover two weeks ago.

As evidenced by the failure to pass the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005, the Democrats in Congress have repeatedly fought back Republican Party efforts to reform the two mortgage banking giants. Instead, Democrats in Congress have sought to preserve the quasi-governmental status of the mortgage giants, seeing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac as places to locate former top Democratic Party operatives, where they have earned millions in compensation, despite a continuing series of financial scandals. Enron-like accounting manipulation, for example, boosted earnings to a level at which massive executive bonuses could be paid.

The current financial upheaval^{Sept 2008} is but one of many ongoing conflicts and spectacular battles we are engaged in. It likewise is but the bitter fruit of earlier decisions and deeds warned against by good men of knowledge and principle.[1]

On the facing page I have reproduced one page of a three page article not only documenting the open scandal and current lies and slander of the Democrats but which likewise identifies key Democrats and Mr. Obama as key supporters of the liberal (Socialist) beliefs, policies, actions and deeds which have now fruited in our current financial upheaval. That is, that these men and actions of claimed good intentions have directly fruited to our current social unrest, currency and savings losses, devaluations and future unknown jeopardy and the hotly debated political differences now being hidden by the media!

● Beware, these same men, including Obama deny these exposed beliefs and misdeeds and now clamor for more socialism, for more of the same … as the promised changes America needs! More government, more taxes, more abortions, more cover for dishonest, corrupt politicians.

Most important, all this is no surprise to our Redeemer and God. Similarly, such confluence of events should not have been surprises to God’s twice-born and Bible-discipled people … only the time of the present bitter harvest was unknown.

The Prophet wrote, “there is a time for everything!” Thus, the current upheaval harvest does alert us to our and America’s need for personal and church repentance with actions and faith in the Living God that show repentance and that special obedience of faith in Him and His rule and His power!

God says in His Word, “Ask you of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to everyone grass in the field.” ^{See Zechariah 10}Thus, truly, our God can, will and does intervene, rule, control and bless. He has greatly blessed America and given us honorable, God-fearing leaders. But, He also says to His special people, ask Him!

The Socialist salvation-idol of bigger government continues to be proven useless and destructive! Many followed Jesus after He fed the five thousand. They wrongly believed that He came to feed them. They wanted to make Him their king for free food. He rebuked this belief. He demanded their repentance, conversion, discipleship and worship with freedom from darkness, His wrath for their evil deeds but amazing grace to order their lives under His rules as our factual Pilgrim forefathers sought.

If you don’t have a second birthday celebrating your new birth by repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, I urge you to seek Him with all your heart and find Him, forgiveness and life.

If you already know Him as your Savior and Lord, then I urge you to order your life carefully and knowledgeably under His Word.

As an American, you have a duty to vote. Be sure you vote as a Christian supporting life, liberty under Him to work, providing for your family and respect for your neighbor. Each sin who votes to take a neighbor’s life, wife, children, liberty or property for redistribution as claimed social justice does evil. As the following received Parable teaches, we are to be a doers and teachers of His way and good works not Socialist wishers, takers and repressors. We are to be serving Him today where we are with what we can, not waiting for later. Our choice today is His holy service or our convenience; real Christianity or more destructive idolatrous socialism.

A Parable: (From a friend of my wife via the internet)

“I was talking to a friend of mine's little girl, and she said she wanted to be President some day.

Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her,

"If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?"

She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people."

"Wow - what a worthy goal." I told her, "You don't have to wait until you're President to do that.

You can come over to my house and mow, pull weeds, and sweep my yard, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food or a new house."

She thought that over for a few seconds 'cause she's only 6.

And while her Mom glared at me, she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"

And I said, Welcome to the Republican Party.*

Her folks still aren't talking to me.”

David also says: This is a momentous time and election. The current financial upheaval is so timely and instructive. Likewise is the Supreme Court’s recent declaration that the Second Amendment identifies our individual God-given right to keep and bear arms. The liberals, by many other names, demand that America no longer be a bold and Christian land of the English language, honorable marriage between men and women, opportunity for all citizens of good will with enduring love and the protection of both the well and weak. Beware false promises!

The liberals deny and plot against all that is truly good and great! Sarah has shown the way in Alaska. Real Christianity is thinking and doing right, here and now, and expecting men to work not getting leftovers from corrupt politicians. Meaningful Stewardship for Christians

Stewardship concerns money but it goes far beyond money and just making and having money! It’s about God’s will, a living faith, His promises, difficulties, trials, real education, overcoming, self-discipline, expectations, tithing, child rearing, making provisions for one’s family, feeding the cows during winter, enduring the Spring cold while plowing, equity, judgment, understanding the words of the wise, politics, inflation, doing good to others, …

Having viewed the rubble left from Germany’s Nazi Socialist Party and later the destruction, brutality and wickedness of both the North Vietnamese and South Vietnamese Socialists, I have strong moral and knowledgeable oppositions to the many claimed promises of Americans for government wisdom, effectiveness, good will and collective prosperity under their changes for Socialist rule of bigger government.

Briefly, their liberal promises remain morally repugnant, intellectually dishonest, religiously antichristian, destructive to civility and personal responsibility just as they were under Hitler and Castro! They depend upon buying votes by promising to take the property of some for the benefit of those blind to evil. All is done under the guise of doing good: food stamp food, available housing, free education, free healthcare and meeting people’s immediate felt needs without regard to right and wrong. Like unwanted marriages, unwanted babies are legally terminated.

America has been blessed because we and many of our forefathers have chosen and shown the Christian way by the second birth. Not perfectly but persistently! The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob has been our chosen God not the state. His Word is our rule of faith, foundation of law and inspiring hope by faith in Jesus Christ and His blood atonement for our wicked sins, not the whims of feelings, convenience and cheating politicians. Property is private, personal and sacred received by work, inheritance or contract, not political spoils. Like divorce, inflation is hated. It is theft by political means.

Because Heaven’s revealed personal responsibilities correct, guide and lead us, fathers have insurances and seek to build meaningful productive estates. Young men go to war to defend America against tyrants and threatening thugs. There is a blessed American way of thinking and life to be cherished, valued and protected. Education is sought for godly understanding and equipping for future honorable services to God. Threats of evil and destruction as those against Israel and America are both heeded and punished because words have meaning. Just so are threats of personal injury and death! To know Jesus is to know the Truth, have Light and know the Way to walk and not walk! ^{Do see Psalm 1} Thus, twice-born men participate in self-government voting morally and conservatively.

Related to this, men of faith do not need more government nor do they covet and vote to take their neighbor’s stuff. They faithfully work and make personal provisions. Many are prompted by the clear language of Scripture: “But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith and is worse than an infidel!” ^1Tim.5:8Doing such, they voluntarily work together with other Americans to make provisions in the unlikely event of early death or tragedy. Private health, car and home insurances are similar. They make meaningful and affordable private provisions against events that would threaten the family’s well being!

Beware! Many men and politicians continue to work together to prohibit and confuse such insurance and investment freedoms by restrictive laws, rules and regulations that it looks like more government or free government benefits are required and needed! Educated Reflections of a Vietnam Veteran

Before serving in Vietnam in 1966 and 67, while 20 years old, I served two years (56 and 57) in the U.S. Army stationed about 20 miles outside of the rubble of Nurnberg, West Germany. This was after our God-blessed Allied victory over the Nazi Party and its many Socialist leaders! Socialism, Socialist promises and socialist hopes destroyed Europe and gave world-wide devastation.

Vietnam was much the same. North Vietnam’s lust for power and ruthless total control, lying rhetoric and the unending false public championing for equality-for-the-people was bought by the left-leaning American media. After all, North Vietnam was the People’s Republic! Unlike today, America did not have talk radio and Rush Limbaugh. Multitudes of Americans were blinded by the media liberals’ hate of Christian America and the efforts to keep South Vietnam free. Like the French earlier in North Africa, America was forced by liberals and the Democrats in Congress to disastrously withdraw just when the forces of freedom and order were on the verge of success.

The surge in Iraq has been blessed by our God! The liberals declared Iraq lost and demanded Mr. Bush abandon her to the forces of repression, hate and religious intolerance. The liberals in the media and Congress decried and labeled all American efforts to interrogate captured combatants for intelligence as unmentionable, intolerable cruelty and totally unacceptable … just like the war. Meanwhile and true today as I write, just like in Vietnam, the known, visible, bone-breaking, inhumane torture by enemies is overlooked, excused and still tolerated in silence!

Nonetheless, these same twisted liberals and media today slight both the known inhumane torture John McCain endured for years as an American POW and his (McCain’s) support for what is now the success of the Surge! Standing against public opinion, media mockery and all Democrats and many liberal old-boy Republicans, John McCain stood for what he understood as right, necessary, true American security interests. McCain understood and stood for Conservatism.

Like the World War Two veterans, both John McCain, myself and Vietnam Veterans saw and experienced Socialism in action. We saw, we experienced its deceits, dishonesties, brutalities, lies and corruption fruits. We saw and see its twisting of events, false promises and news to encourage more government and more trust in more government. It is not taught in our Public Schools nor Universities today, but Socialism is a devastating blight on any land. As in the blackest days of WW2, Christianity’s conservatism remains the true hope of all men.

Those voting Socialist oppose themselves, their families, their country and God Himself.
